YOGA and QI GONG

As a teenager, my awareness of my body, the energy moving through me, and Spirit living within me, was awakened with the help of my older brother. As a Kung Fu student, he taught me to breathe, kick, strike, and mostly, to feel Qi (vital life force), and access it to spar with him.
In college, I trained in Tai Chi, Tai Kwon Do, and primarily Dance, through which I cultivated more connection to breath, Qi and Spirit, and found an avenue for healing and creative emotional expression. Dancing became one of my passions, and has continued to be a source of inspiration for my classes.
I was introduced to Yoga while in India during college, and began studying Jivamukti Yoga in 2000. I fell in love as I delved into the philosophy, breath practices, meditation, and postures in the Yogic tradition. After six years of deepening practice in various styles, I completed my Hatha Interdisciplinary Yoga Teacher Training at Frog Lotus Yoga School in North Adams, MA.
In addition to continued Yoga education and practice, my study of movement/meditation forms from China has continued throughout the years in Tai Chi and Qi Gong with teachers in San Francisco, Berkeley, and Santa Cruz. Medical Qi Gong greatly enhanced and helped me embody my Chinese Medicine education and I share this body of knowledge in my Enlivening Spirit Qi Gong classes.
As part of your treatment, I may recommend specific Qi Gong or Yoga practices for homework to continue your healing throughout the week. I also offer individual and group instruction. Classes may include a combination of meditation, pranayama (breath practices), Qi Gong, Yoga asana (postures), partner yoga and general breath-based movement/dance/free expression.
