LEIAH LAUREN BOROWSKY

Licensed Massage Therapist Certified Yoga Teacher

I believe that we all have access to a state of vital health. We are complex beings that are an expression of physical, emotional, mental, spiritual dimensions. Through life experiences and environmental factors, we can lose connection to our vitality and our essence, and accumulate patterns that lead to pain and dis-ease.
As we increase awareness of these patterns, and reconnect, release or transform them, we can move toward a state of greater peace and vitality. My intention is to deeply listen, offer guidance and support in the journey of healing transformation, and work together with you to enliven your body, mind and spirit.
I currently practice in Marin and Berkeley and I offer home visits. I specialize in:
BIOGRAPHY
I began giving massage as a child, and had a natural affinity and talent for it. At the encouragement of friends, I began a Massage Therapy practice 18 years ago while in college at Wesleyan University. After graduating, I completed the Finger Lakes School of Massage 1000-hour Massage Therapy program in New York, where my knowledge of the human form & ways to work with physical and energetic healing deepened. My practice and love of Yoga began here and blossomed as I received my 200 hour Hatha Interdisciplinary Yoga Teacher Certification from Frog Lotus Yoga in Massachusetts.
After several years of continued education in massage modalities, I wanted to expand my skills and offer more holistic healing options for patients. My studies of Shiatsu, Thai Massage, Kung Fu and Tai Chi sparked a curiosity and passion for Oriental Medicine and philosophy, and I received my Master's Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, CA. During this program, I completed a Certificate in Five Element Acupuncture, studied Medical Qi Gong and Japanese Acupuncture, and served as an instructor for Massage courses in the school's Asian Bodywork and Qi Gong program. I also had the opportunity to study Chi Nei Tsang with Mantak Chia, and this offered a new way to directly connect with and address physical organ health and the emotions held there.
In addition, my ongoing studies in Craniosacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute have awakened an awe-inspiring awareness of the subtle fluid rhythms and tissue patterns of the body, and the capacity and innate knowing we have of how to unwind past physical and emotional traumas. I draw from all of these modalities to help support you in enlivening your body, mind and spirit.
I aspire to help you feel greater ease in your body, more relaxed in your mind, more connected to your breath, and more integrated in your whole being.
I would be honored to share in your healing journey.
